Terms of Service
Effective Date: July 1, 2025
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Tero platform and services ("Service") provided by Tero Edge, Inc. ("Tero," "we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Use of the Service
You may use the Service only in accordance with these Terms and applicable laws. You agree not to misuse the Service or use it in a manner that could harm Tero, its systems, or other users.
2. Access to Third-Party Tools
To deliver the Service, you may be required to provide credentials (e.g., API keys or access tokens) that allow Tero to connect to your observability or monitoring platforms. By providing these, you authorize Tero to access and process telemetry data on your behalf, solely for the purpose of delivering the Service.
3. Customer Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Ensuring that you have the legal right to share telemetry data and credentials with Tero
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your login and access credentials
- Complying with applicable laws and third-party terms
4. Data and Intellectual Property
Your Data: You retain ownership of all telemetry data and related system information. Tero accesses this data only to operate and improve the Service as permitted by these Terms.
Our IP: All content, features, and functionality of the Service (excluding your data) are the exclusive property of Tero and protected by intellectual property laws.
5. How Tero Handles Telemetry Data
Tero does not ingest or store all of your telemetry data. We access telemetry streams (e.g., logs, metrics, traces) only as needed to extract representative samples for building and maintaining a semantic index of patterns (such as log templates or event types).
We store only:
- Patterns and metadata derived from telemetry
- Limited, context-specific samples to support features like waste classification
Samples are anonymized where possible. Variable fields are replaced with wildcards or masked to avoid storing sensitive information.
All such data is stored securely in our PostgreSQL database and object storage systems. Tero is not a full telemetry warehouse or backup service — your observability provider remains the system of record.
6. Customer Data Control and Deletion
You or Tero may terminate your account and use of the Service at any time by providing written notice.
Upon termination of your account:
- Your access to the platform will be revoked
- All stored samples, patterns, and metadata associated with your account will be deleted within 30 days, unless otherwise required by law
- You remain responsible for any fees incurred prior to termination
You may also request a review or deletion of any stored samples, patterns, or metadata associated with your account at any time during your use of the Service.
7. Security
Tero implements industry-standard security practices, including:
- Encryption of data in transit and at rest
- Secure storage of credentials and access tokens
- Role-based access control
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or error-free operation. You use the Service at your own risk.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tero shall not be liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Loss of data or profits
- Any liability exceeding the total amount paid by you to Tero in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms periodically. Material changes will be communicated via email or through the Service. Continued use of the Service after updates constitutes your acceptance.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
